Hi Hot Tomato friends,
Every May, Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month aims to raise awareness of domestic and family violence and send a clear message that domestic and family violence will not be tolerated in our community.
Earlier this month, the Hot Tomato breakfast team spoke with local charity, Hearts of Purple.
One of the ways they help victims of domestic violence on the Gold Coast is by providing security watches which can contact emergency services. The work they do really struck a chord with all of us.
Over the years, we have raised money for lots of great causes with ‘Galey to the Rescue’ - this time round, I’m going to walk across the coast with a Hearts of Purple wheelie bin from 7am to 7pm this Thursday 27 May.
I’ll be accepting cash donations in the wheelie bin but I would also love if you would consider donating what you can via the Go Fund Me page we have set up.
Each hour on Thursday I’ll check in with our announcers at the 1029 Hot Tomato studio to let you know where I’ll be and provide an update on the money we have raised.
All funds raised will go directly towards buying additional GPS tracking security watches for domestic violence victims in our community.
All donations big or small make a difference!
